Grown-up sheet · Shapes Island · Big game

How to use it

  1. Watch the video together with your child. Don't give them the answer. If they stay quiet, wait for Pipo to say it.
  2. For each challenge, mark just one box:
    • ✓ if they answered on their own, before the circle emptied.
    • ½ if they answered late or with help.
    • ✗ if they didn't answer or got it wrong.
  3. Pause the video to write things down if you need to.
  4. At the end, look at the "What to review?" table.

What to watch for on this island:

  • Turned shapes: a square balanced on its corner is the hardest. If they say "diamond," it counts as ½: they see the shape, but they still think turning it changes it.
  • Sides and corners: see whether they point to or trace each side only once, like when counting objects.
  • Rectangle and oval: it's fine if they say "long square" or "egg." Mark ½ and repeat the name: "Yes, it's a rectangle."

What to review?

Rule: a block is mastered if the child got most of its challenges with ✓ and none with ✗.

· Shapes in any turn and size 1–3 Stop 1: "Learn" and "Play more" (M7-S1-A, M7-S1-J2)
· Sides and corners 4–5 Stop 2: "Learn" and "Play" (M7-S2-A, M7-S2-J1)
· Rectangle and oval 6–7 Stop 3: "Learn" and "Play more" (M7-S3-A, M7-S3-J2)
· Shapes in things 8–10 Stop 4: "Learn" and "Play" (M7-S4-A, M7-S4-J1)
· Is it true? 11–12 Stop 5: "Learn" and "Play" (M7-S5-A, M7-S5-J1)

What to do next:

  • Everything mastered: Level 1 is complete! Before moving on to Level 2, it's a good idea to do a general review of all seven islands.
  • One block not mastered: rewatch those videos for 2 or 3 days.
  • Two or more blocks not mastered: it's worth spending one more week on this island.

Common mistakes at this age:

  • "That's not a square, it's a diamond" (challenge 2). Many children, and some adults, think a turned square is a different shape. At home, cut out a paper square and turn it together: "Did it change? Does it still have four equal sides?"
  • Calling a rectangle a "square" (challenges 6 and 11). This is normal at this age. Compare a square napkin with a book: "Are all the sides the same?"
  • Counting the same side twice (challenge 4). Have them start at a side marked with a finger and stop when they get back to it.
