Grown-up sheet · Level 2 · Seesaw Island · Big game

How to use it

  1. Watch the video together with your child. Don't give them the answer. If they stay quiet, wait for Pipo to say it.
  2. For each challenge, mark just one box:
    • ✓ if they answered on their own, before the circle emptied.
    • ½ if they answered late or with help.
    • ✗ if they didn't answer or got it wrong.
  3. Pause the video to write things down if you need to.
  4. At the end, look at the "What to review?" table.

What to watch for on this island:

  • More and fewer with two rows: ideally they match one on top with one on the bottom using a finger, or count both rows. If they answer based on whichever row looks longer, they're still going by space rather than amount (challenge 2).
  • Greater and lesser: "greater" is the number that has more. Some children pick the number that "looks bigger" or the one that was said last. If they hesitate, ask: "Where is there more, in the six or in the nine?"
  • One more and one fewer: ideally they say the next number (or the one before) without counting everything from one. If they count everything and get it right, still mark ✓, but make a note.

What to review?

Rule: a block is mastered if the child got at least one challenge with ✓ and none with ✗.

· More, fewer, and the same 1–2 Stop 1: "Learn" and "Play more" (M9-S1-A, M9-S1-J2)
· Greater and lesser 3–4 Stop 2: "Learn" and "Play more" (M9-S2-A, M9-S2-J2)
· One more 5–6 Stop 3: "Learn" and "Play" (M9-S3-A, M9-S3-J1)
· One fewer 7–8 Stop 4: "Learn" and "Play" (M9-S4-A, M9-S4-J1)
· Pipo made a mistake! 9–10 Stop 5: "Learn" and "Play" (M9-S5-A, M9-S5-J1)

What to do next:

  • Everything mastered: they can move on to the next island, New Patterns.
  • One block not mastered: rewatch those videos for 2 or 3 days.
  • Two or more blocks not mastered: it's worth spending one more week on this island.

Common mistakes at this age:

  • Thinking the longer row has more (challenge 2). With real buttons, make two equal rows and spread one out: "And now?" Then line them up one to one again.
  • Mixing up "greater" with "bigger in size." Use fingers: "Six fingers and nine fingers, where is there more?"
  • One fewer is harder than one more (challenges 7 and 8). Marking ½ is normal. Play stairs: one step up is one more, one step down is one fewer.
  • Saying "yes" to everything Pipo says (challenges 9 and 10). Before they answer, ask them to look: "Where is there really more?"
