Grown-up sheet · Level 2 · Necklace Island · Big game

How to use it

  1. Watch the video together with your child. Don't give them the answer. If they stay quiet, wait for Pipo to say it.
  2. For each challenge, mark just one box:
    • ✓ if they answered on their own, before the circle emptied.
    • ½ if they answered late or with help.
    • ✗ if they didn't answer or got it wrong.
  3. Pause the video to write things down if you need to.
  4. At the end, look at the "What to review?" table.

What to watch for on this island:

  • Patterns of three and doubles: ideally they say the pattern quietly ("red, blue, yellow…") and keep going. If they always answer with the color that hasn't repeated yet or with the first one in the row, they don't yet see the part that repeats.
  • Growing patterns: ideally they see "one more each time" without counting each tower from one. If they count the blocks and get it right, still mark ✓, but make a note.
  • Translating: ideally they look at the top row and say "red is clap." Answering with their body (clapping or jumping) instead of saying it is fine.

What to review?

Rule: a block is mastered if the child got at least one challenge with ✓ and none with ✗.

· Patterns of three 1–2 Stop 1: "Learn" and "Play" (M10-S1-A, M10-S1-J1)
· Doubles and ABCC 3–4 Stop 2: "Learn" and "Play" (M10-S2-A, M10-S2-J1)
· Growing patterns 5–6 Stop 3: "Learn" and "Play more" (M10-S3-A, M10-S3-J2)
· Translating a pattern 7–8 Stop 4: "Learn" and "Play" (M10-S4-A, M10-S4-J1)
· Pipo made a mistake! 9–10 Stop 5: "Learn" and "Play" (M10-S5-A, M10-S5-J1)

What to do next:

  • Everything mastered: they can move on to the next island, Measuring.
  • One block not mastered: rewatch those videos for 2 or 3 days.
  • Two or more blocks not mastered: it's worth spending one more week on this island.

Common mistakes at this age:

  • Following a pattern of two when it's a pattern of three (challenges 1 and 2): after "red, blue" they say "red." Make a real necklace with three colors and say the pattern out loud, touching each bead.
  • Miscounting how many go together (challenges 3 and 4): in "green, green, blue, blue" they put just one blue. Clap the pattern: two soft claps, two loud ones.
  • Towers that go down (challenge 6) are harder than the ones that go up; marking ½ is normal. Build a staircase of blocks and take it apart one at a time.
  • Translating by looking only at the bottom row (challenges 7 and 8): they get it right by chance or answer with a color. Point to each column together: "red… clap; blue… jump."
  • Not noticing the mistake in the row (challenges 9 and 10). Read the row together out loud: you can hear the mistake.
