Grown-up sheet · Careful Counting Island · Big game

How to use it

  1. Watch the video together with your child. Don't give them the answer. If they stay quiet, wait for Pipo to say it.
  2. For each challenge, mark just one box:
    • ✓ if they answered on their own, before the circle emptied.
    • ½ if they answered late or with help.
    • ✗ if they didn't answer or got it wrong.
  3. Pause the video to write things down if you need to.
  4. At the end, look at the "What to review?" table.

What to watch for on this island:

  • At a glance: if they say the number right away, they already recognize the amount without counting (✓). If they pause to think or try to count after the objects are hidden, mark ½.
  • Scattered: see whether they touch or point to each object only once.
  • Are there enough?: see whether they answer by looking at the pairs, not at which row is longer.

What to review?

Rule: a block is mastered if the child got most of its challenges with ✓ and none with ✗.

· At a glance 1–2 Stop 1: "Learn" and "Play" (M5-S1-A, M5-S1-J1)
· Counting scattered objects 3–4 Stop 2: "Learn" and "Play" (M5-S2-A, M5-S2-J1)
· Are there enough? 5–7 Stop 3: "Play" and "Play more" (M5-S3-J1, M5-S3-J2)
· Zero and "show me" 8–9 Stop 4: "Learn" and "Play" (M5-S4-A, M5-S4-J1)
· Find the mistake 10–12 Stop 5: "Learn" and "Play" (M5-S5-A, M5-S5-J1)

What to do next:

  • Everything mastered: on to Island 6 ("Where Is It?").
  • One block not mastered: rewatch those videos for 2 or 3 days while the next island begins.
  • Two or more blocks not mastered: it's worth spending one more week on this island.

Common mistakes at this age:

  • "There are more cookies because they take up more room" (challenge 7). This is normal until age 5 or 6. At home, set out a plate for each person together, then spread the plates apart: "Are there more plates now?" Line them up one to one again to check.
  • Not saying "zero." Many children answer "nothing" or "none": that counts as ✓, because they understood the idea. Repeat: "Yes, none! We say zero."
