How to use it

  1. Watch the video together with your child. Don't give them the answer. If they stay quiet, wait for Pipo to say it.
  2. For each challenge, mark just one box:
    • ✓ if they answered on their own, before the circle emptied.
    • ½ if they answered late or with help.
    • ✗ if they didn't answer or got it wrong.
  3. Pause the video to write things down if you need to.
  4. At the end, look at the "What to review?" table.

What to watch for on this island:

  • Counting on without going back to one: with "25, 26, 27, ?", ideally they keep going from 27. If they count from one to get there, they aren't counting on yet.
  • Crossing into the next ten: the hard step is from 29 to 30 or from 49 to 50. Mistakes like "twenty-ten" or "forty-ten" are common.
  • Counting by tens or by twos: notice whether they count the bars saying "ten, twenty, thirty" or count them dot by dot.

What to review?

Rule: a block is mastered if the child got at least one challenge with ✓ and none with ✗.

· Counting on 1–2 Stop 1: "Learn" and "Play" (M19-S1-A, M19-S1-J1) and "Learn" from stop 3 (M19-S3-A)
· Counting by tens 3–4 Stop 2: "Learn" and "Play" (M19-S2-A, M19-S2-J1)
· Up to one hundred 5–6 Stop 3: "Play" and "Play more" (M19-S3-J1, M19-S3-J2)
· Counting by twos 7–8 Stop 4: "Learn" and "Play" (M19-S4-A, M19-S4-J1)
· Pipo made a mistake! 9–10 Stop 5: "Learn" and "Play" (M19-S5-A, M19-S5-J1)

What to do next:

  • Everything mastered: move on to the next island (measuring and time).
  • One block not mastered: rewatch those videos for 2 or 3 days.
  • Two or more blocks not mastered: it's worth spending one more week on this island. Counting to 100 takes time, and reviewing is fine.

Common mistakes at this age:

  • "Twenty-ten" (challenge 2): count together on a 1-to-100 chart and point to the jump to the next row: "after nine, the next row."
  • Mixing up 73 and 37 (challenge 6): say the number slowly, "seventy… three". The first digit tells you the tens.
  • Counting the bars dot by dot (challenge 3): it isn't a mistake, but it takes longer. With pasta or sticks in piles of ten, practice "ten, twenty, thirty".
