How to use it

  1. Watch the video together with your child. Don't give them the answer. If they stay quiet, wait for Pipo to say it.
  2. For each challenge, mark just one box:
    • ✓ if they answered on their own, before the circle emptied.
    • ½ if they answered late or with help.
    • ✗ if they didn't answer or got it wrong.
  3. Pause the video to write things down if you need to.
  4. At the end, look at the "What to review?" table.

What to watch for in this level:

  • The ten-frame: notice whether they recognize the full row of five without counting it ("five and two, seven").
  • Comparing: they should look at how many there are, not at which row is longer.

What to review?

Rule: an island is mastered if its two challenges have at least one ✓ and no ✗. The two "Pipo made a mistake!" challenges don't count as an island: if they miss them, review stop 5 of the island on that topic.

· 8. Up to 10 1–2 The island's Mix (M8-S5-M) and its Big game (M8-S5-E)
· 9. Comparing 3–4 The island's Mix (M9-S5-M) and its Big game (M9-S5-E)
· 10. New patterns 5–6 The island's Mix (M10-S5-M) and its Big game (M10-S5-E)
· 11. Measuring 7–8 The island's Mix (M11-S5-M) and its Big game (M11-S5-E)
· 12. Order and time 9–10 The island's Mix (M12-S5-M) and its Big game (M12-S5-E)
· 13. Shapes and space 11–12 The island's Mix (M13-S5-M) and its Big game (M13-S5-E)
· 14. Sorting and data 13–14 The island's Mix (M14-S5-M) and its Big game (M14-S5-E)

What to do next:

  • Six or seven islands mastered: ready for Level 3!
  • Four or five: one week of review with the islands not yet mastered, then watch the part that had mistakes again.
  • Three or fewer: it's best to repeat those whole islands before moving up a level. It isn't a failure: every child has their own pace.
